Hope you all had the happiest Halloween- we went trick-or-treating as the Paw Patrol squad this year, which Grayson dictated (I was gunning hard for *NSYNC and Britney Spears, but that concept was vetoed when Mike and Gray couldn’t come to a decision about which one of them got to be Justin). 🤣
Here are five things I’ve been loving lately!
1.) This Netflix movie. There was a post recently on a Facebook mom group I belong to asking for Netflix recommendations, and a bunch of moms swore that this movie was not only better than anticipated but also husband approved. Mike and I watched it last weekend and we both really enjoyed it (like, in that pause it while I run upstairs to pee kinda way), and I’ve since spoken to a few of my girls who also loved it.
2.) These were a huge hit at our Thanksgiving celebration last year, so as soon as I got confirmation that we were again hosting 20+ people this year at our home, I quickly ordered a few more.
3.) Legacybox. Recently I got motivated to wade through my parents’ archives and dig up as many VHS tapes and film reels as I could find. I ordered Legacybox (they ship you an empty box with stickers to label each item, you fill it and mail it back, and they email you digital files of whatever you sent them) and it arrived in just a few days. My whole family was amazed. The above shot was taken from my grandparents’ wedding video- shot in 1947. Nobody even knew it existed, it was on a dusty film reel that had been in storage for decades. The quality is incredible, and the nostalgia in viewing these memories together as a family conveniently on our iPhones as well the peace of mind in knowing that they’ve been preserved is worth the pricetag.
4.) This candle. It’s been burned constantly in my kitchen since the weather started getting chilly, and I’m planning on continuing that until December 1st where I’ll switch to more wintery scents. I generally find pumpkin-scented anything to be a little nauseating, but the vanilla balances the pumpkin scent perfectly and sort of mellows it out, and it creates a warm, inviting, dessert-like smell. Note- as with all Trader Joe’s items, this will be cheaper in-store than it’ll be online. For those of us who don’t live close to a T.J.’s, however- we gotta Prime that isht.
5.) This song. The whole soundtrack is great, but this song in particular is quite the anthem. Mike and I karaoke practiced in the car the other day (per his request, mind you) and he sang Bradley Cooper’s lines while I belted out Gaga’s. We did three rounds, loudly, before we pulled into the driveway and realized that Logan had fallen fast asleep in the carseat during our high-decibel duet. So either our voices in tandem are as soothing as a lullaby, or Logan was just tired. 🤷
