Here are five things I’ve been loving lately!
1,) Epsom salt baths. OK, I know I’m so late to this party but WHY did I not partake in this sooner? A friend recently recommended Epsom salt for the boys’ bath, and being the helicopter mama I am, I had to try it myself before exposing them to it. O M G. I melted- I mean, I fell ASLEEP in the bath within 5 minutes. The magnesium sulfate has so many healing properties and can aid in helping sore muscles, battling illnesses, improving sleep, lowering blood pressure, and more. I added a few drops of lavender oil to my bath. Excited to hear from you about how use these salts!
2.) Necessary winter Netflix binge: Friends from College. Season 2 just came out and it’s even better than Season 1- more character development, a noticeably better wardrobe, better lines, and an amazing soundtrack. I’m bummed it’s over. If you didn’t watch Season 1 yet you’ve got yourself a longer binge sesh to enjoy.
3.) These easy-peasy bagels that include only five ingredients and take literally under ten minutes of prep- and that’s with my toddlers helping! They hit all the marks: easy to make, with ingredients you already have on hand (the only thing you may want to order ahead of time is my beloved Everything but the Bagel seasoning), and they’re extremely low in calories (only three WW points)! They require no boiling- you can bake them or make them in your air fryer. What I love the most is that my kids can help me bake, but we aren’t left with 2 dozen cupcakes tempting me and transforming my kids into absolutely irrational sugar lunatics.
4.) Supergoop! sunscreen. 90% of the signs of aging are caused by the sun. Think about that stat! OMG. I have been diligent about SPF in the summer months since I was diagnosed with melasma in 2014 but I have honestly given myself the other seasons “off”- per my annoyance at another daily step and my concern that the SPF was giving my skin another layer of potential acne-causing ingredients to sit underneath my makeup. I finally decided that I was insane to not be protecting my skin against the sun every day (with the help of my friend and skin guru, Kiki). What I’m liking about the Supergoop! that I purchased– it’s light, clean, and mineral based, with the slightest tint that makes me look slightly less pasty and winterized. For a mineral sunscreen to give off a nice tint and not a whiteish sheen is an accomplishment. I’m excited to see the protection that this stuff gives off in the spring and summer months but the reviews have me optimistic. Their website is also SO GOOD at helping you determine which product would be best for your skin.
5.) Chobani gimmies. I’m always hunting down yogurt options for my boys that they’ll actually eat and aren’t horribly laden with sugar. These are a win. Only 4 grams of sugar in each tube, they’re a new household staple.
Hope everyone had a Happy Valentines Day and is looking forward to a nice long weekend! xo
