Can you believe we’re already a whole month into 2019? Time seems to be flying and I’m not mad about it- spring’s right around the corner. Okay, a long corner, but still.
Here are five things I’ve been loving lately!
1.) This idea. A friend shared it on Facebook the other day and I thought to myself, now that’s a sweet way to teach my boys what I value and adore about them specifically! My first hearts were hung on their doors this morning, and I’m putting a spin on it and having Mike fill out half of the hearts so we can rotate days.
2.) Polar Vortex much? This ice scraper mitt is the BEST. The fleece lined mitt part keeps your hands warm and dry and you just grip the scraper on the inside of the mitt. Simple idea but genius! Mike loves it- it was his favorite stocking stuffer this year. Nice work, Santa.
3.) This book. The title may give you pause, but unlike other Holocaust novels, this is a tale of hope and positivity despite horrific conditions. I couldn’t believe when I found out that it was based on a true story. I can’t imagine anyone not being as transfixed and consumed as I was.
4.) Hyaluronic Acid– you probably knew this one was coming since I haven’t shut up about it this week! I’ve never seen such good results around my eyes to add intense moisture into the area and help plump up the wrinkles to make them less noticeable and help makeup sit atop- not sink into- the skin. I’m HOOKED. I layer mine with Vaseline at night to seal in extra moisture and after 2 days using it morning and night, I could already see a difference.
5.) This disturbing but important TED Talk about Youtube videos that our kids (at least mine) are watching- surprise eggs, the finger family, etc. and how the videos can take a very dark and unsafe turn quickly and easily, based on YouTube’s automated, irresponsible algorithm. I recently heard a very upsetting story about a kids’ YouTube video (which was allegedly removed) that looked like a safe and standard kids’ video, but a man entered the screen and in a few seconds demonstrated how to slit your throat. UGH. I know that’s hard to read, and I don’t know if it’s true, but I’ll tell you what- today Grayson wanted to watch a video about the Milky Way and I watched it (on the YouTube Kids app) and the first ten seconds of the video referred to the video being for “dummies” and stating that “smart is the new sexy”. All with kid-like images, and relevant content related to my search (galaxy videos for kids). But I don’t want my three year old hearing the word sexy, or dummies. And have you guys heard about Elsagate? My guess is that the more you look into this, the more disturbed you’ll be. There’s a lot of bad out there, you guys.
Hope everyone has a great Friday! We’re so happy to be celebrating Logan’s birthday (finally) with no stomach bugs and no snowstorms. Happy SuperBowl to those of you who watch (I’m not into football at all but I don’t turn down spinach dip or nachos)!
