Here are five things that I’ve been loving lately! This post is not sponsored and doesn’t contain affiliate links- they’re real-deal, Linsey- tested, tried and true recommendations. If I ever link you to anything I’ve been given for free or I’m making money on, I’ll say so upfront.
1.) This fitted yellow dress. She’s perfect for day or night, work or play, with heels or flats, and the light sweater material makes it an easy transition piece from summer to fall. I could see it with a blue blazer and nude pumps for work, or with sneakers and a ponytail like the model’s wearing it on the Lulu’s website. It’s ribbed vertically in addition to the horizontal stripes, and I think it’s that ribbing that creates an optical illusion where it’s slimming. Even though it’s form-fitting, it doesn’t cling in any of the wrong areas (no undergarments or bellybuttons show).
2.) I mentioned this stuff in my Instagram stories this week and a number of people inboxed me wanting the scoop. Magic Salve is a supersalve with an olive oil base that has tremendous moisturizing and healing powers. It’s made right here in the Hudson Valley and I use it on absolutely everything. It helps me combat dryness on my elbows and knees, I use it as makeup remover, under my eyes for extra hydration, on my lips whenever I’m feeling dry, and underneath socks overnight to make my feet feel nice and soft when I wake up. Since it’s made by totally natural ingredients, it’s also my go-to for my boys- it’s the only thing that effectively cleared up Logan’s eczema, and I put it on diaper rashes and booboos, as well as the irritation Lo gets on the sides of his hips from where his diaper rubs. After the boys take their bath, they like to help me load this stuff up all over their squeaky clean little bods. This is a great item to throw in an essentials gift basket for a baby shower!
3. ) The only makeup brush I’ll ever use again. Bold statement, I know- so let me back it up. The difference between this foundation brushes and other brushes is this- every single bit of the product that the brush touches gets smoothed onto your face, and none of it gets absorbed by the brush. A lot of people swear by a Beauty Blender, but at the end of the day, a Beauty Blender is a sponge, and a sponge soaks stuff up. The Artis brush (I use the Oval 7) isn’t cheap, but neither is foundation, and buying expensive foundation just to have a sponge soak it up seems counterproductive. Also, the way the brush smooths the makeup onto my skin is so simple- it takes about 7 seconds to do my whole face, and it’s impossible to screw up. It’s gentle and my makeup simply sits more evenly on my face when I use it. Oh- and I’ve tried knockoffs, and they haven’t come close to the same results.
4.) This simple summer corn salad has been a mainstay in my refrigerator over these past few months. I’ve been tripling or quadrupling the recipe and filling a large Tupperware container up so that I can use it as a side dish, turkey burger topping, wrap filling, or lunch on its own. It’s light and refreshing. I make it even easier by skipping the grilling option and using canned corn, and I made it a little less caloric by using Trader Joe’s light feta cheese. I’ve added tomatoes and avocado just to switch it up in the past, but the truth is it’s perfect in its simplicity.
5.) These neutral canvas sneakers have been in heavy, heavy play for me this summer. I own the light vintage color, and the picture doesn’t show it (even when you zoom) but they have a slight shimmer which I was initially turned off by, but I now love! It adds a subtle sparkle without being obnoxious, and you only notice it when you’re close-up. I get so many compliments on these simple sneakers. The best part is that the first time you slip them on, you feel like you’re wearing nothing but socks- they’re so comfortable to walk in! Total mom-necessity. The irony here in my togetherish life is that one of my sneakers has been missing for weeks. It’s been driving me crazy, and I’ve torn apart our house searching for it! A part of me believes that Logan may have thrown it in the garbage can, as he does with things from time to time. But I still haven’t given up hope, and I just ordered the grey heather color for Fall!
